Day 812 - Day 302 Q - Jan.6.21 - Why are you the way you are?

People don’t ask themselves enough questions about why they make certain decisions or why they are the way they are. They assume they’re stuck being who they are and there’s not much they can do to change their thought process and environment. That’s a lie. They have trouble being with their own thoughts. People don’t like to sit and listen to what they have to say to themselves because it scares them. They don’t want to confront themselves. They neglect the most important conversations they have with themselves. Why? They’re too scared. They don’t want to hear what their parents have planted in their head or what their spouse has to say about them, so they continue to live life without reflecting. How did I get here? Why am I the way I am? Why do I have these thoughts? What seem like basic questions have very complicated answers. People mostly don’t want to explore those answers. ‘Learning to be comfortable with yourself is a superpower’ as Naval said and whether its meditation, running, painting, Tai chi or something else, everyone needs time in the day to just be with their own thoughts. People also don’t want to unlearn because that’s the hardest thing to do. To challenge your own identity and belief system and tear it down is very tough for people to confront. Challenge your beliefs every day because what you know today about certain things may be completely wrong. Strive to be better and keep learning.
