Day 1409 - Aug.8.22 - Success is a terrible teacher

Effort, not the outcome. Work, not the result. Commitment to the process, not the awards. This is what will take you far, not searching for the end result. Success is a terrible teacher. It makes you believe you can’t fail again. It inflates your ego. It makes you feel like you’re better than other people. Why? Cuz you got lucky to be born into your circumstances? Successful people have to work hard but most of their success starts with luck. It starts with things outside their control. The family they were born into. The country they were born in. The time period they were raised in. The environment they saw every day. The positive and negative people that came through their life. The experiences, particularly traumatic ones, they had as a kid. All of that determines where a person ends up in life, not just how hard they work or how much money they have. Money is also a terrible teacher. Having more of it makes you feel invincible. It increases your ego and pushes you on a never-ending hamster wheel to achieve more. It makes you compare yourself to people above you rather than objectively taking a look at where you are compared to most people. Riches early in life can be detrimental as it can make you believe you’ll always have it. Life goes up and down. Sometimes you’ll do well and other times you won’t. You can’t control the outcomes but you can control the effort and how you react to circumstances. Focus on that and let everything else happen as it will.
