Day 675 – Day 169 Q – Aug.26.20 – NBA Boycott
This day cannot be overstated. Monumental day in the history of American sport. In a pandemic, the NBA players finally did it and protested for what they believed in. For the right to be equal. That’s it. How would you feel as a father or mother talking to your kids at a young age about dealing with the police? Never. How many people have been discriminated against? A lot depending on where you are. I’ve seen it for myself. Dadda getting profiled in LV stores. But it pales in comparison to the average black person living in America. Imagine you and your parents were constituted to neighbourhoods where you didn’t have properly funded schools because it’s mostly going to cops. How would you feel being looked at differently anytime you do something? It’s not a shared experience but at least try and relate. Read the stories. Understand the history. Understand what really happened. And how deep this goes. Mass incarceration, war on drugs, underfunded education, lack of access to homeownership and loans. You don’t control that. Just empathize.
