Be the audience to your own show:
Be the audience to your own show.
Read this quote years ago in ‘Pimp: The Story of My life’, a book about Iceberg Slim, an American pimp in the mid-20th century.
One idea stuck out in particular:
‘Imagine your life is a screen and you’re in the movie theatre watching it. There is no reason except a stupid one for anybody to project on that screen anything that will worry him or dull that vital edge. After all, we are the absolute bosses of that whole theatre and show in our minds. We even write the script. So always write positive, dynamic scripts and show only the best movies for you on that screen whether you are pimp or priest.’
Imagine you were watching your life as if it were a TV show.
Would you be happy with it?
Would you be proud of what you’re seeing?
If not, do something about it.
Stop blaming other people.
No one else is the director, screenwriter, actor, cinematographer, or costume designer to the show that is your life.
You are.
You’re responsible for everything.
Believe that you are responsible for all the good and bad that happens to you, whether you like it or not.
Where you are in your life is exactly where you should be.
If you want more, go get it.
Stop sitting there saying you’re going to do it tomorrow.
Go fucking do it because there is no tomorrow.
Wake up in the morning and take accountability.
Hold yourself accountable because no one else will.
Don’t you want to watch a TV show and be happy at the series finale?
Watching the triumph and journey of the person you’re watching.
Watching them struggle, hold themselves accountable and turn their life around.
You have that choice.
You have the choice to win an Oscar for your performance.
Imagine the academy is your older self.
Looking back on your life, would you be proud of the TV show you created?
If not, then change the storyline.
Take risks with the character.
Get out of the rut.
All heroes have to go through the hero's journey, as per Joseph Campbell.

Take every problem and failure as part of the process.
Don’t let it bother you.
Stop worrying about stupid issues.
If the problem is one you wouldn’t think about a year from now, don’t take it too seriously.
Instead, focus your attention.
Focus on something.
Doesn’t have to be anything great, but it has to be yours.
You have to focus on what you want.
Write it down.
Write down what you want your series finale to be.
If you don’t know, then explore.
Try new things.
Sit down and think.
Conceive it, dream it, then execute on it.
Show yourself, the audience, that you can make the best show possible.
Be the audience to your own show.
