Don't feel intimidated

Don’t feel intimidated:

Don’t feel intimidated.

Just because people are older than you doesn’t mean they know more than you.

We’re all just figuring it out.

Even our parents.

I used to think as a kid that all adults had everything figured out.

They knew how to navigate life.

Wrong.

We’re all just making it up as we go.

That doesn’t mean you’re any worse or better than them.

Sure they have more experience.

They’ve seen a few more things.

They’ve lived through a few more experiences than you.

But doesn’t mean they’re better than you.

Doesn’t mean they’re smarter than you.

Doesn’t mean they’re more capable than you.

You’re just as good.

Sure you don’t have the same experience but that doesn’t mean you can’t do the job.

Don’t doubt yourself.

Don’t doubt your work.

Don’t doubt your abilities.

Stop putting yourself down.

You deserve to be here.

You deserve to be treated as an equal.

You deserve to be sitting at the table.

You can learn a lot from them, as you should.

Ask them about their life.

About their journey.

About their career path.

You can learn a lot from their stories.

Apply that to your life.

Use their mistakes and life lessons to accelerate your learning.

All of your problems have happened before.

Go learn from the people that have dealt with them.

Even if it’s from books.

The dead are great teachers.

Humanity has existed for thousands of years.

All man’s problems have happened before.

So go learn from other people’s mistakes.

Go listen to those ahead of you.

But don’t blindly trust them.

Don’t blindly believe them.

Don’t blindly follow them.

The future will be very different than the past.

Those who are older that don’t keep up are going to fall off.

The world is accelerating at an exponential pace.

The difference between living in 1500 and 1800 is minuscule in terms of people’s experiences.

But the difference between 1960 and 2020 is vastly different.

The difference between today and 2050 is unimaginable.

Everything has changed.

Means you have an advantage.

You understand the Internet.

Social media.

New technologies and apps.

They don’t have that skill set.

But you don’t understand psychology.

Building long term relationships.

Doing good work for decades.

Patience.

You haven’t learned that.

Go learn that from them.

Combine that with your skills today.

The best of both worlds.

The old and the new.

Someone who can adapt to anything.

Do that and you’ll be successful.

Just be patient.

Success doesn’t happen overnight.

As much as the world wants you to believe.

Success takes time.

If you can constantly learn from everyone, you’ll be fine.

You’ll navigate the craziness we’re about to enter.

The world in 5, 10 and 20 years will look so different than history.

Yet human behaviour remains the same.

Those ahead of you have a lot to teach you about that.

Learn that and you’re golden.

Remember, you’re just as good as those ahead of you.

If not better.

Don’t feel intimidated.
