Expect a lot of your stuff to suck

Expect a lot of your stuff to suck

February 12, 2022

Expect a lot of your stuff to suck:

Expect a lot of your stuff to suck.

Expect a ton of failure.

A ton of posts that people don’t like.

That’s ok.

That’s part of the process.

Fail more often and you’ll be more successful.

Remember, all you need is one.

If you only take 10 chances, your chances are 1/10.

If you take 100 chances, it’s more likely 1 out of those 100 will work somehow.

If you take 1000 chances, your chances are even greater.

It’s weird because this far into my writing journey (post 532), I still feel like a fraud.

It still feels like my writing isn’t great.

It could be better.

What’s nice though is I’ve seen the improvement.

If I go back to my early work and compare it to now, it’s completely different.

I’m more concise.

Tighter word control.

No one wants to read a long blog post.

However, if you write a good enough one and turn it into audio, it could be a great podcast episode.

That’s doubling your chances of success.

Then turn it into a video.

That’s tripling your chances of success.

All you need is one.

It’s weird because I wrote my first Gamestop article over a year ago.

So much has changed.

I’ve done so much.

I had such a good 2021.

Got to travel a ton.

Spend time with family.

But I’ve also done a lot of self-work.

532 posts of self-work.

I’m doing the work.

I’m committed to doing this over the long haul.

This is something I enjoy and also something that could make a massive impact.

Words have power.

Truth has power.

Tell your truth.

Tell the world how you see it.

Try and make a difference.

This camera, this camera or this camera, let the people know what’s going on in your life (thanks Sean)

Pass on your knowledge to the next generation.

Teach people about what you’ve lived and learned.

The world deserves to know your gift.

They deserve to see the creator that’s hiding inside them.

It’s hiding inside everyone.

We just won’t do the work.

We don’t want to fail.

We don’t want to look like a fool in front of other people.

Ok so don’t tell anyone.

Do it in silence.

Build something for yourself.

If you want to share it with the world, great.

But if you’re scared, work at it for a little while.

Spend some time.

Then show your work.

That’s all this has been.

The goal was for one person to be happy and learn from what I’ve created.

I’ve already accomplished that.

It’s me.

It’s ok if your stuff sucks.

It’s ok if people don’t like it.

It’s ok if people criticize it.

As long as you’re happy with what you’re doing, nothing else matters.

Expect a lot of your stuff to suck.

But expect some of your stuff to be great.
