I miss real conversations

I miss real conversations

I miss real conversations:

I miss real conversations.

I miss talking to someone without them being distracted.

I miss speaking to someone without them looking at their phone.

I miss talking to someone who’s fully focused on our conversation.

You don’t meet many people who can do that these days.

I just got back from a night out and was chilling with my brother when in the middle of speaking to him, the first thing he does is check his phone and stop talking.

I miss having people really there.

Really present.

Listening to you and what’s going on in your life.

Asking questions.

Curious about who you are as a person.

I miss real conversations.

I really fucking miss them.

How often do we feel like everyone we talk to is distracted by something else?

There are very few people you meet in life who are fully present.

Who are fully focused on what’s in front of them and not constantly stressed about something else.

Those guys are winners.

All of them.

Because they realize what’s important.

They understand that the present moment is the only one that matters.

They can plan and think about all the things that could happen, but they appreciate life happens in the moment.

If you can make someone’s moment, they’ll remember you for the rest of their life.

People used to say this about Bill Clinton.

That charismatic son of a bitch.

He made everyone feel special.

He was fully present.

He tried to focus on exactly what was in front of him as much as possible, even if he was thinking about a million other things.

It made people feel incredible and part of why he was president for so long.

But the issue with those people is sometimes they can be a fraud.

Exactly like our boy Bill.

No one is perfect in all areas of life.

Everyone is flawed.

The people you see on TV or on social media are just as fucked up as you and I are.

They’re just controlling their message a little better.

They’re making the world believe they’re something that they’re not.

We all present a facade.

Shit, most people on my Twitter right now probably think I’m an insane person.

I love it.

I love knowing that no one believes me.

People think I’m crazy.

That’s fine.

Life happens in your head and I refuse to let other people’s opinions penetrate my brain.

I gotta do me.

I gotta live my life.

I gotta tell my truth.

It feels like I’m in a world that doesn’t make sense, yet perfect sense if you understand how manipulated everyone is.

It’s a game.

Once you understand the rules of the game that is life, it becomes a little bit more interesting.

You appreciate why people go to a restaurant to sit across from each other on their phones.

You understand why people get really drunk and become alcoholics.

You appreciate why people become arrogant assholes who are super insecure.

Once you learn about how the human mind works, everything changes.

Life becomes a lot more fun to watch.

Some of us are born into great circumstances where our version of the game is really nice and others born into the complete opposite - everything is shit. No one loves them. Everyone’s abandoned them. It feels like no one cares about them and they’re completely on their own.

We don’t get a choice of what circumstances we’re born into.

That’s outside of our control.

But we can choose what we do with our time.

Use your time to work on yourself.

Become the best version of you, you can be.

No one will help you. No one will thank you.

But it will be worth it in the end because you’re the one who will win.

It’ll make you appreciate people for who they are.

Because some people are incredible humans who are living their best lives doing what they love trying to make an impact on the world.

Go meet those people.

Those will be the ones who want to have real conversations.
