Day 950 - Day 440 Q - May.24.21 - challenge the resistance

Doing good work every day is hard. It’s hard to show up when everything in your body is telling you to shut down and watch a movie. It’s hard to show up when you have to edit multiple documents while being extremely tired. Yet if you want to be great, those are the moments that will test you the most. The difference between greatness and mediocrity is challenging the muse that is your mind, especially when everything is telling you not to do it. Stephen Pressfield talks about it in his book ‘War of Art’ which speaks to challenging yourself and your mind which he calls the resistance. The resistance makes it easy for you to quit and give up and push something to tomorrow. Guess what? There is no tomorrow because you have to put in the work now. Only in those moments that you don’t want to do things but end up doing it anyway is where greatness comes from. Show up. Show up for yourself every day because you're the only one who's suffering by not putting in the time. The world doesn’t care about your feelings or how tired you are, it’s too busy moving. Either you’re moving with it or you’re letting it pass you by and I’m not letting it pass me by. Time is the most precious source you have so make sure you’re spending it exactly how you want and don’t stop until you do. You’ll get there someday, just keep working. Work on your craft even when you don’t want to because those days are where greatness is created. Be great!
