Day 1338 - May.27.22 - Prioritize time for you
No one else can be you. They don’t have the same talent, upbringing, or environment you were brought up in. Yet we’re most ungrateful for our position in the world. Always focusing on the negatives rather than the positives. Letting the bad news of the day upset us and distract us from what’s going on in front of us. Always thinking about the past and future but never the present. Looking ahead or behind instead of right now. Letting the past affect your behaviour today. Focusing on the trauma from your childhood and using that as an excuse for your destructive behaviour. ‘It’s someone else’s fault I’m like this. It’s always someone else.’ No. It’s you. It’s your responsibility to get yourself better and choose to make difficult choices. Problem is today vices are so easy to find and can always give you an instantaneous dopamine hit. Short-term pleasure over long term success. Here’s the paradox - you have to work hard every day for the future you want knowing that future may never come. It could all disappear tomorrow. Enjoy the moments while working for the person ahead. The value of compounding is the best reason why investing a bit of time in our day for yourself and your future can stack up to huge wins that you could never imagine. I never thought I’d write the amount that I did, yet here we are with 691 blog posts in less than a year and a half. Focusing on working in the present but doing it consistently so you can see your results stack on top of each other. Even on the days when you don’t think you’re making progress, you can always look back and appreciate the work you’ve done. Be proud of yourself for investing and choosing yourself. It’s hard. There’s so many other people and distractions taking us away from taking the time to discover ourselves. So you have to be relentless. You have to prioritize time for you. Everyone has the same 24 hrs in a day and what you choose to do during that time is up to you. If you want to be successful, you need to spend more time working on yourself, even if it’s a little bit every day. 5 minutes to sit and think. Away from everything. Ask yourself questions. What are you thinking about? Why? Don’t worry about it and let it just fade away. 99% of what you think about in your life will never happen. You don’t know what the experience will be like till you actually do it. Don’t eb afraid of the unknown because it’s where all the fun happens. Of course, there will be failures along the way but that’s the price for success. The price for making a large impact on the world. Jump into the unknown and work your ass off. You got this.
