No one cares

No one cares

No one cares:

No one cares.

Everyone’s too wrapped up in their own lives to be thinking about you that often.

Yet we let people’s opinions dictate our lives.

They’ll tell us why we should live the life they think we should live.

But they’re not living your life.

You’re living your life.

No one else is trapped with you inside your own head.

You’re on your own.

You have to decide what you want in life and go get it.

Get after it.

No one’s going to hold your hand on the way.

You gotta figure it out yourself.

Life is no cake-walk.

Everyone’s walking around with their parent’s thoughts and childhood fears letting them dictate who they are.

We all have them.

We pretend like we don’t but we’re all scarred by childhood.

We all have experiences that have stayed with us our whole lives that decide who we are.

For some people it's phobias.

If you had a bad experience with a dog as a kid, you’ll grow up disliking dogs.

But that’s all a construct.

Something happened to me recently that has stuck with me for at least a month.

In front of my condo, I was crossing the street when I was supposed to, listening to music when I turned to my left and a car was speeding down the road.

I abruptly stopped and the car went straight through the red light.

2 more steps forward and if I didn’t see, I would’ve been run over.

Now every time I cross the street I always wait an extra 2 seconds before crossing.

Will this experience stick with me for a long time?

Hard to say.

Imagine that experience happened again and again as a child.

How many children are abused by the people closest to them as they grow up?

A lot.

Even as they grow into adults, those experiences never leave.

They’re always there.

It takes a lot of self-work and reflection on those experiences to recognize you don’t have to let them dictate your future.

You have to learn to let go.

To stop blaming yourself.

To love yourself and remember that experience is gone.

The past doesn’t exist.

It’s all in your head.

Come back to the current moment and what’s in front of you.

It takes a lot of self reflection to get there.

Something I wish more people did.

Reflect on who you are.

Understand what makes you tick.

What do you enjoy? What do you hate? Why?

How did you end up where you did?

Who were the people that helped you get here?

Appreciate your journey.

We’ve all struggled and failed.

If you haven’t, it’s coming.

That’s how life works.

So what are you going to do about your failure?

Are you going to blame yourself?

Are you going to blame other people for your problems?

Stop.

‘The first rule of leadership: everything is your fault.’ – Bug’s life.

Accept responsibility for your actions.

Hold yourself accountable.

No one else will.

No one cares.
