Not all days are great:
Not all days are great.
Today was one of those days.
Was largely productive.
Read a bit of my new book, answered emails, worked out, did groceries for my grandma.
But there was this feeling in my stomach the whole day.
This sense of uneasiness.
Of dread.
Of nervousness.
For what?
I don’t know.
Everything’s going well in my life.
Super happy where I am. Just got back from a beautiful family vacation. Everyone in my life is healthy.
Yet I couldn’t get rid of that feeling today.
I can’t imagine what that’s like every day.
Especially for those who aren’t as lucky as I am.
Those from poorer backgrounds. Single parents with no childcare for their kids. Dads who don’t know how they’re going to afford their mortgage. The mom who just got laid off from her job while caring for her two elder parents.
They have real problems.
Mine pale in comparison to them.
Yet we can’t escape our brain.
We can’t escape our thoughts.
All we can do is acknowledge them and not let them eat away at us.
Remember, thoughts are just thoughts.
But if you believe them long enough, they will manifest themselves.
Finished Strangest Secret by Early Nightingale yesterday and he had a great line:
‘There is one grand law in the universe. The great law briefly and simply stated is that if you think in negative terms, you’ll achieve negative results. If you think in positive terms, you will achieve positive results. That is a simple fact.’
We’re all products of our thoughts.
But we don’t have to act on all of them.
We don’t have to let the negative ones eat away at us.
Yes there will be days when nothing is going right for us and the only thoughts are negative.
But you have to believe in the good.
Find the good in your day.
Every day may not be a good day but there is good in every day.
It’s all about your perspective.
Look for the good things in your life and stop focusing on the bad.
It’s very easy to look at the bad.
Our brains are wired that way.
Why traffic on the opposite side of the street slows down when there’s an accident.
Everyone wants to watch a wreck.
But you can choose to not pay attention.
You can choose to look at the good.
The choice is yours.
Not all days are great but most days can be.
