Propaganda is a deadly weapon:

Propaganda is a deadly weapon.

If I can make you believe anything, I own you.

‍

Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not.

‍

If I can make you believe it, I can make you do anything.

‍

It’s how propaganda has worked for generations.

‍

First coined by Edward Bernays in the 1920s. 

‍

It’s a 4 part BBC documentary that a few hours long but WOW is it mind-blowing.

‍

It’ll completely change the way you see the world and the media.

‍

The man who started it all was Edward Bernays.

He was employed by the British and American governments in World War I and World War II to convince the population to support the war.

‍

He wrote his famous book titled ‘Propaganda’ in 1928 about how to use messaging to get people to do what you want. (Read my notes here)

Corporations ate it up and started to employ him as a consultant.

‍

He created campaigns that have stood the test of time.

‍

One example is what he did with cigarettes.

‍

Cigarette companies were seeing stagnant sales because only men smoked.

‍

He unlocked a brand new market by getting women to smoke in a famous incident in New York.

‍

He coined it ‘Torches of Freedom.’

‍

While everyone at that time was watching the Easter parade, he had models walk out and interrupt the parade with cigarettes.

‍

All of a sudden, women aroud the world started to smoke.

‍

He did this by preying on desire.

‍

That’s advertising.

‍

It’s why celebrities and athletes get paid millions.

‍

If your favourite person or your idol is selling something, you want it.

‍

Whether consciously or unconsciously.

‍

It’s amazing how propaganda shapes our world.

‍

Always has been and always will be.

‍

But the modes of propaganda are changing.

‍

It used to be controlled by small groups of people.

‍

Those who owned the modes of distribution.

‍

The printing press.

‍

Then radio.

‍

Then TV and movies.

‍

Now social media.

‍

Anyone is a creator.

‍

Which means anyone can share their story.

‍

Those in power can’t control the narrative anymore.

‍

It’s why people distrust the mainstream media.

‍

All the American news outlets are propaganda machines.

‍

All of them.

‍

CNN.

‍

ABC.

‍

NBC.

‍

CBS.

‍

FOX.

‍

Just like every other news organization.

‍

But their armour is breaking.

‍

The world can see what is happening right on their phones.

‍

The documentary, narrated by Rogers Waters, the lead singer of Pink Floyd, uncovers how the Israeli government and lobbying organizations have shaped the narrative of Israel and Palestine.

Let’s be very clear on this.

‍

It’s a fact that since 1948 and the Naqba, Israel has overtaken Palestinian territory.

‍

And no one has done anything about it.

‍

Every time a UN resolution is put forward, it’s always blocked by the US.

‍

Why?

‍

Because of the Israeli lobbying organizations.

‍

Spearheaded by the AIPAC - American Israel Public Affairs Committee, one of the largest lobbying organizations in Washington.

‍

Spending endless money on both sides of the aisle to put people in power who unconsciously support Israel and whatever they do.

‍

Politics in America is a money game and those who support the Israelis have a lot of it.

‍

Those who support Palestine - much less.

‍

But it’s not just about that.

‍

It’s about the media.

‍

And how the media has told stories about what’s happened in Gaza.

‍

It’s always done from the Israeli perspective.

‍

Always with Israeli talking points.

‍

Always by deflecting the narrative.

‍

It’s not about addressing why Israel continues to settle on Palestinian land.

‍

Why they take territory away from Palestinians for no reason.

‍

It’s always about terrorists.

‍

And Hamas.

‍

And how they must defeat them because they are like ISIS and Al Qaeda.

‍

What do you call someone who drops tons of bombs on innocent people?

‍

What is the Israeli army then if they’ve murdered tens of thousands of innocent people, mostly women and kids, by bombing their cities?

What do you call someone who steals your home, pushes you away, controls what you can and can’t eat, is always watching over you, and never allows you to travel freely?

‍

What do you call them?

‍

According to America, they’re heroes.

‍

The Israelis are just protecting themselves.

‍

It’s about self-defense.

‍

Right?

‍

Wrong.

‍

It’s another bullshit argument.

‍

Israel has instigated attacks.

‍

There’s a part in the documentary where during a ceasefire, Hamas fired no rockets into Israel.

‍

Zero.

‍

So what did Israel do?

‍

Fired rockets into Gaza.

‍

DURING THE CAESEFIRE.

‍

It was hidden in the New York Times on page 8 and coincidentally came out the same day Obama got voted into the White House.

‍

Gaza responded.

‍

So then Israel responded dropping tons of bombs on Gaza.

‍

And said they had to defend themselves against Hamas.

‍

WHEN THEY WERE THE ONES WHO STARTED IT.

‍

It’s like watching a fight on the playground.

‍

And there’s a giant fighting against a child.

‍

The child has done nothing wrong and is sitting there.

‍

The giant punches it in the face.

‍

So the child responds.

‍

Then the giant punches the child in the face 100 times and says he was just acting in self-defense.

‍

Please explain how that works.

‍

Israeli government officials even admitted on television.

‍

But it wasn’t American television.

‍

Because the American media is trained on talking points.

‍

Always about terror.

‍

Always about Hamas.

‍

Always about self-defense.

‍

As one line in the documentary mentioned, it’s about terror not territory.

‍

Because this affects everyone.

This affects how decisions are made.

This affects how people perceive a situation.

This affects how you see the world.

Without knowing the full picture, you get a distorted lens of society.

‍

Your view of the world is not real.

‍

It’s one person’s story of it.

‍

And that story is a powerful one that has been manipulated by those in power.

‍

They don’t want you to ask questions.

‍

They don’t want you to stand up.

‍

They don’t want you to become knowledgeable.

‍

They need you uninformed.

‍

They need you dumb.

‍

They need you distracted.

‍

While they and their military-industrial complex buddies kill innocent people all in the name of profit.

‍

It’s sickening.

‍

And yet, this is a tale as old as time.

‍

Storytelling is at the heart of humanity.

‍

But be careful of which story you listen to.

‍

If you don’t go outside your bubble and search for information from various news sources, you’ll live in a distorted world.

‍

A world where one country can commit genocide in 2024 while being supported by the US government.

‍

Historically no one would ever question it.

‍

But today, everyone can see videos of what’s happening in Gaza directly to their phone.

‍

The Israeli propaganda machine is breaking.

‍

People are waking up.

‍

Their propaganda is becoming less effective with young people.

‍

Regardless, it’s still working.

‍

Most older Americans still believe the propaganda.

‍

They still believe what’s being fed to them.

‍

Be aware of the propaganda you’re listening to.

‍

Because it’s a very effective weapon.

‍
