The most important decision of your life

The most important decision of your life

The most important decision of your life:

The most important decision of your life.

Who you marry.

Not what you do.

Or where you work.

Or who your friends are.

All of these are extremely important.

But who you marry is the single most important decision you’ll ever make.

Pick the right partner and watch your life be exponentially better.

Pick the wrong one and the life you envisioned will blow up in front of you.

Charlie Munger told me this.

Smart man that guy.

More people should spend time learning and listening to that guy.

A genius who blessed this earth with almost a century of life.

He said it.

The person you marry is the most important thing you’ll ever do.

Find someone who fits you.

Who likes you.

But who also pushes you.

Who inspires you.

Who supports you.

Who’s there for you.

Someone you want to share secrets with.

Someone you want to share experiences with.

Someone you want to share your life with.

That decision is everything.

Can’t take it for granted.

You really need to know someone.

Know how they were brought up.

Know their family.

Know their friends.

Know what they like and don’t like.

Know how they think.

You can’t figure that out immediately.

It takes time.

It’s watching them interact in the world.

It takes deep conversations.

Not just what your favourite colour is.

But what are your dreams?

Where do you want to go?

What you do you want to become?

How do you see your life in the future?

What makes you happy?

What are you still figuring out?

What have you always struggled with?

What makes you feel insecure?

Learning the answers to all of these is paramount.

It’s everything.

If you want to build a life with someone, you need to understand these.

And if you don’t, there should at least be willingness to learn.

But also a willingness to be open.

To share.

To be vulnerable.

To trust.

To let go of your secrets.

You need that as well.

Relationships are a two-way street.

It takes two to tango.

If one person wants to do all of this and the other person is not open to it, it won’t work.

Better to know that upfront than waste years of your life being with the wrong person.

Choosing the wrong person will derail your life.

Don’t let it happen to you.

Don’t screw up the most important decision of your life.
