Aug.29.23 - Day 1796 - We need healthy debate
Listen to people before you judge. Let them make their point. Let them explain their opinion. Don’t interject. Don’t judge. Don’t jump to conclusions. Listen to their full argument, understand what they’ve said and respond. You don’t have to agree with everything they say. You don’t have to believe what they say to be true. Present your conclusions based on evidence you’ve seen and have a healthy debate. We’re missing that in conversations these days, especially from people with different viewpoints. You need debate for a healthy democracy and society. Without it, we’re doomed. Cancel culture is a dangerous precedent and same with these people deciding what you can and cannot say. What you can and cannot think. Don’t let them control your voice and own your opinion. Think for yourself. Come up with your own conclusions. Listen and search for people with different viewpoints than you. Censorship only gets solved with more speech, not less of it. Wish there was a show or forum where healthy debate could be had without people interviewing or the mass media controlling the message. We need people to listen. Listen to people before you judge.
