Autopilot:
Autopilot.
Most of us are on it.
All the time.
Not thinking.
Just doing.
The same thing.
Every day.
Same schedule.
Same routine.
Same morning.
Same evening.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Stop that.
Try something.
Go outside.
Do something new.
Get off autopilot.
Your life is too short.
You’re here for but a moment.
You don’t matter.
Neither do I.
So do what you want.
Make your life.
Take initiative.
Try.
Fail.
Suffer.
Show up again and again.
Then watch what life you create.
Moments.
Memories.
Experiences.
Ones you never thought possible.
Yet they happened.
With work.
Determination.
Commitment.
Showing up again and again.
For myself.
Not for anyone else.
No one else will hold you accountable.
They don’t care about you.
So hold yourself accountable.
Be your harshest critic.
Keep showing up.
But also give yourself credit.
Give yourself grace.
Don’t be too hard on yourself for too long.
Be present.
Learn from the experiences.
But move on.
Don’t hold it in.
Don’t hold in grudges.
Let things go.
People don’t care about you.
No one is worried about you as much as you think they are.
So stop thinking of them.
They’re not watching.
And if they are, who cares.
Why do you care about their opinion more than yourself?
Your opinion of yourself must ALWAYS be higher than anyone else’s opinion of you.
Stop caring what people think and letting their non-focus on your life hold you back.
Go do what you want.
Be who you want.
Experience what you want.
But you have to take initiative.
You have to take action.
You can’t sit around hoping it will happen to you.
It won’t.
So get outside.
Move outside of your comfort zone.
Start slow.
Little changes.
One habit you implement a few minutes a day.
Do that for a year without judging yourself and watch how far you come.
Started with reading for me.
Then incorporated writing.
And running.
Eventually, it became more than a few minutes.
It coloured my life.
It gave me things to look forward to.
Things to think about.
Stuff that was not about my job or family.
Just something for me.
It led to where I am.
An Ironman.
A marathoner.
An author.
All things I did for me.
That started with a few minutes a day.
Someone asked me today, why?
Why do you do all of this?
Personal challenge.
To see what I can do.
To see how far I can push it.
How many things I can achieve.
Are those achievements going to make me happy when I get there?
Probably not.
It’s the journey to get there.
Every day.
Enjoying that.
All the ups and the downs.
Just one day to the next.
But shake it up.
Go live an interesting life.
Get yourself off autopilot.
