Be patient

Be patient:

Be patient.

Stop wanting time to speed up.

Stop wanting to be at your goal today.

Stop rushing through life.

You need to be patient.

Work in the micro, think in the macro.

Work today, think tomorrow.

It’s ok to have dreams.

To have goals.

To have things to strive for.

They’re important.

You need them.

But don’t let them consume you.

Don’t let them destroy you.

Don’t let eat away at you.

You wanting the moon is not going to make the moon come any closer.

Day-to-day actions will.

It will get you one step closer.

But it may never get you there.

You may never reach your goals.

That’s ok.

Having them is still important.

It’s something I recommend to everyone.

But don’t rush.

It takes time to get there.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Anything great wasn’t built in a day.

It was built over a long career.

Patient actions.

Done again and again for long periods of time.

Listened to a podcast today that has been one of my favourites in a long time.

A chat with Tim Ferris and Hugh Howey.

An author who has conquered the book world.

But did it in his own way.

A man who published many novels with no fanfare.

He published 6 full-length novels before his 7th got picked up.

6 books with no traction.

That’s dedication.

That’s work.

That’s real effort.

Searching to write not for the outcome.

But for the writing itself.

He said he gave himself 10 years.

Write 2 novels a year for 10 years and see what happens.

That’s a big goal.

That’s a long-term goal.

That’s a patient goal.

He wasn’t looking to be there tomorrow.

He wasn’t looking for the outcome.

He wasn’t looking to become an award-winning author.

He just wanted to write.

To share his stories with the world.

To create something that he wanted to see out there.

Like he said, create something one person absolutely loves.

If you do that, everything else will come.

It was a needed reminder.

I want to create the largest independent media company in the world.

I want this media goal yesterday.

Some days, it feels like I’m behind.

But I’m not.

I’m working at something every day.

I’m writing every day.

I’m always thinking and moving forward.

That work will pay off.

I know it.

It already has.

Even if nothing comes out of all this writing, that’s fine.

It’s the best thing I ever did.

Got a message today from a work friend.

He said ‘great poem today. I needed it.’

Even though I wrote it 2 years ago.

That’s why I do it.

Do it for one person.

Make that one person you.

All the outcomes will come.

Stick to the work.

Be consistent.

Write.

Everything else will fall into place when it does.

Till then…

Be patient
