Content creation is tough:
Content creation is tough.
It’s hard staying consistent.
It’s hard maintaining a persona.
It’s hard being an influencer.
It’s hard coming up with new pranks, skits and ideas for years.
Consistency is hard.
But you have to let go out of the outcome.
You have to do it for the work.
You have to make them because you love that job.
You need to be doing it even if someone wasn’t paying you.
That’s what writing feels like to me.
Whether or not people listen to me is not up to me.
I can market and sell this as far and wide as possible, but whether people choose to listen is not in my control.
If I make money off of this, great.
If I don’t, great. I’m still going to do this.
What I figured out is you have to build timeless content.
Build things that outlast you.
Talk about ideas, concepts and stories that are not about the news of the day.
Yes, those will get you the clicks.
Those will drive traffic.
Those will get advertisers to come on board sooner.
But you’re always chasing the next thing.
When you develop the mindset of building regardless of the outcome, you let go.
You let history be the judge.
People will laugh.
People will criticize.
Don’t mind it.
As you get bigger, the noise will get louder.
The criticism more vicious.
They’ll want to cancel you.
They’ll want to take everything away from you.
They’ll threaten you with your career.
So make yourself anti-fragile.
Build multiple streams.
Earn outside of your main job.
Branch out.
If you can become a good investor and earn money while you sleep, you’re not as attached.
Sure brands can disappear, but no one can control your ability to create.
People will judge you and compare you to your old self.
But you can’t control that.
You can’t control anyone’s opinion of you.
You don’t control their feelings.
People that criticize are those sitting on the sidelines looking for their 2 seconds in the sun.
Forget about them.
Show up for yourself.
Learn about the world.
Pay attention to the world around you rather than the one on your screen.
There are teachers everywhere.
It’s where ideas come from.
Out of experiencing the real world.
Learning about life before you were born and connecting it to your own experience.
Build the world you want to see.
See it in your head.
Then go do it no matter the criticism.
My journey has just begun and regardless of how much shit I take along the way, no one can control my effort in producing posts that provide value to people.
So what content creation is tough?
I’ve never backed down from tough.
