Control:

Control.

A thing we all want.

Control over our lives.

Control over our decisions.

Control over what happens to us.

We all want control.

We want to feel like we’re in power.

Like we decide how the world is going to work.

Or how our lives will unfold.

Or how the decisions we make are always going to work out.

All of those are lies.

We can’t control a lot.

But we can control some things.

We can control our actions.

We can control how we spend our time.

We can control who we spend our time with.

This is what we should focus on.

What we can control.

Not what we can’t.

Many of us want to control too much.

How other people are going to think about us.

What other people are going to say about us.

How other people are going to act.

We can’t control any of that.

We can’t control how anyone else will do anything.

Even though we think we can.

Life will take us in unique directions.

Give us moments where you question everything.

Where instead of wanting control you have to surrender.

Surrender to where your mind and body will take you.

Drugs can do that.

In the right environment, at the right dose with the right people, substances can show you this.

They’ll show you how much control you don’t have.

They’ll take you in new directions.

Make you think new thoughts.

Put you in situations your mind has never experienced before.

Done right with the right people around you, these can be massively positive experiences.

But done wrongly and too often, these can derail your life.

Psilocybin is an interesting one.

A drug that I wish every adult in the world would take once in their life.

In the right environment with the right people at the right dose.

These drugs will make you rethink everything.

Form new neural connections your brain never had before.

Force you to think about the world in a new way.

Make you appreciate life in a way you’ve never understood before.

These drugs are incredible and dangerous.

They are not to be underestimated.

We’re just starting to uncover the medical effects of these.

Psilocybin is now being tested in clinical trials for patients with depression, alcoholism, end-of-life care, anxiety and others.

We’re going to find out in the coming decade how amazing these drugs are in the right circumstances.

They’ll change many people’s lives.

But many others will have bad experiences.

That’s all part of it.

Nothing is 100%.

But even for those people who have negative experiences, they’ll learn so much about their lives.

It happened to a friend of mine who was taking it.

He spaced out for a few minutes.

Had a derealization event.

Left his body for a minute.

This happens.

I’ve experienced it during a bad trip.

In the moment, it’s terrifying.

You think it could never end.

You believe that this is it.

But you’ll come back.

You have to.

You have to trust your body and your mind.

My sense is these moments are your mind reminding you.

Showing you how much control you have and don’t have.

We need that reminder.

Focus on what you can control.

Let go of what you can’t.

Psychedelics can show you that.
