Expect criticism:
Expect criticism.
Expect it.
Plan for it.
Not everyone will like what you do or who you are.
Doesn’t matter.
It’s not about them.
It’s about you.
It’s about creating the life you want.
It’s different being a consumer vs. a creator.
It’s easy to hide behind a screen.
It’s very different when you’re doing something in public.
It’s probably why social media stars struggle with maintaining their following.
It’s a lot of pressure.
It’s also a lot of hate.
Constantly.
Every day.
You could read 20 positive comments but if one hits you a little too deep, you can’t stop thinking about it.
It eats at you and your self-confidence.
Screw those people.
They’re too scared to do something.
You’re in the arena.
You’re competing, they’re not.
Never forget that.
This is the thing about public life these days.
Criticism is constant.
Social media is the media.
What you say gets broadcast to everyone.
It’s also there forever for the Internet never forgets.
This is also why people are scared to speak the truth online.
Everything and anything can be taken out of context.
People will turn anything into a story to get views.
Clickbait headlines work.
They drive traffic, which is how news companies are incentivized to make money.
We’re all susceptible to them.
We falsely believe everything we read online is the truth.
It’s not.
Most people don’t appreciate how every app you use has been manipulated specifically for you.
So expect a lot of what you say to be taken out of context.
Expect it to be weaponized against you.
Get ready for it.
It’ll happen.
There will be ‘scandals’ and people claiming all types of shit about you.
That’s ok.
Live your truth.
Keep being you.
The only opinions that matter are those of the people closest to you.
Everyone else is irrelevant.
You have to train your mind for this and no one tells you about it.
No wonder why celebrities need to take a break.
It’s a lot of pressure all the time.
But pressure can be a privilege.
It means you have something to say.
It means you’re under the lights in the big time.
It means people care what you have to say.
Good.
Even if they don’t, good.
They don’t have to listen.
What I say and how I write is not for everyone.
That’s ok.
It will never be for everyone.
Nothing is for everyone.
The world is pretty big.
There are 7 billion people out there.
4.9 billion of them are connected to the Internet.
That’s a shit ton of people.
You only need a thousand true fans to like your stuff and you can build a career.
That’s miniscule percent of people online.
But here’s a hack of how you get even more – translate it.
Put your work in other languages.
That’s one of my goals.
Create a company that can easily translate languages for creators.
I’m sure someone is building it already so work with them, invest in them, help them out, use yourself as a test case, then scale it.
There are many other ideas for my whole company.
I have pages of notes.
Structure of how I want to set it up.
I have to draw Disney’s drawing like he did in 1957

I have it in my mind.
I just have to put it on paper.
I’m going to post that at the right time.
Show the world how you’re building.
Let other people see what you’re doing.
Hopefully inspire them to do their own thing.
My advice?
Do it in silence first.
Spend years on it.
Don’t tell many people.
Work at it.
See if it goes somewhere.
Even if it doesn’t, iterate.
Just keep pushing.
Dream about what you want in life.
Write it down.
Tell yourself every day.
Then get ready to put in the work.
The world will open up.
You’ll see opportunities.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be failure.
So along the way, expect criticism.
