I'm hopeful that humanity is mostly good

January 18, 2022

I’m hopeful that humanity is mostly good:

I’m hopeful that humanity is mostly good.

That doesn’t mean that dictators won’t come back into power.

I suspect a lot more will after these next economic crises.

That’ll be a fascinating world to live in.

The world is splitting.

Likely going to be an East vs. West division. China and Russia controlling Asia and Africa. Europe and the US working together more.

The problem is China is a larger exporter of goods to the world compared to the US.

China makes stuff. America doesn’t make enough.

Most of the world now trades with China over America.

Watch this.

This ended in 2018. It’s even more now.

The world doesn’t need America anymore.

As its military declines around the world and countries don’t begin to trust it as much, countries will be forced to choose.

Advance your economy through trading with the country that makes most of the stuff you need, or listen to a declining empire?

That transition isn’t clear to most people yet, but it will be.

The world is going to be very different this next decade, particularly from a geopolitical perspective.

There’s a lot of moving pieces in the world right now.

Massive debt in countries around the world.

Inflation.

Supply chain concerns.

An ongoing pandemic.

The largest asset bubble in history.

Violent protests in Kazakhstan, Sudan and Tunisia.

Russia threatening to invade Ukraine.

Widening wealth inequality globally.

Rising cost of oil and food.

This is not a good mix of things going on in the world.

We’ll see.

This next economic crisis is going to be fascinating to watch unfold.

The mainstream media is losing its credibility every day. I suspect it’ll be even worse as this unfolds.

It’ll be the Internet and individual creators vs. the media in their quest to tell the truth.

Joe Rogan is doing it right now.

He’s a threat to the entire mainstream media industry.

Rogan knows it. Spotify knows it. Media executives at the big cable networks know it.

They’re losing the battle for attention.

Why?

Joe Rogan is a more interesting person.

He also feels honest.

That doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything he has to say.

But at least he’s willing to have an honest conversation with thousands of interesting people.

He’s teaching you something.

His audience feels like they’re learning a bit more about the world that could help them.

What does watching the mainstream news give you?

Fear.

Dread.

All the time.

It’s so toxic.

Depending on how the story unfolds, whoever tells it more honestly will win.

The media has an inflection point.

Tell the truth.

Rule out the corruption.

Bring everything to light.

Show the world what really happens behind the scenes.

Will they do that?

Hell no.

Too many powerful people have too many secrets.

They’ll never tell you how everything really works.

But an independent creator with no ties?

They can tell you what’s going on.

They can use legit sources to show you how the world got so screwed up.

The Internet remains undefeated.

This will be the first time it completely revolutionizes financial markets forever.

Think about this, we’ve never had social media before in past crises.

In the last economic crisis in 07/08, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit were only a few years old.

How social media companies and individuals deal with this next crisis is going to be so interesting to unfold.

How much do social media companies censor?

Do they show the atrocities?

Do they show the revolutions around the world?

Do they show the news articles talking about corruption at the highest forms of government around the world?

Or do they get censored by governments and disallowed?

Most people don’t appreciate enough how powerful the heads of these social media companies are.

They’re literally the strongest entities on earth.

We saw in 2016 how Facebook won an election for Trump.

Facebook can decide who wins and loses elections in certain countries.

They can literally influence the direction of the world.

You don’t think they know how to push certain messages to you?

Social media is just another form of propaganda.

It’s why Mark Zuckerberg spends billions a year likely on lawyers and lobbyists.

He can’t have his monopoly be regulated.

Monopolies on information and industries aren’t new.

It’s similar to what society was like prior to the Great Depression.

Certain companies had monopoly power over massive US entities.

JP Morgan owned US Steel corp, which owned the means to steel production. Since it was the industrialization age, American industry relied on steel. He essentially controlled everything.

Eventually his company was regulated and monopolies were broken up, but they didn’t happen until crises hit and workers around the world banded together.

It was also a period where wealth inequality was as bad as it is now.

These eventually hit a headwind after the Great Depression as multiple democracies turned into autocracies, Hitler and Stalin came to power, and the world went to war.

That can’t happen today.

I’m hopeful that good leaders will rise up and face the challenge.

Working together to advance the world instead of turning to violence.

I’m hopeful that humanity is mostly good.

Keyword though is ‘mostly.’

Let’s see.

What's going on in the world right now, the fight between individual creators vs. the mainstream and tech monopolies
