It’s all in your head:
It’s all in your head.
Other people’s opinions of you.
Other people’s judgment of who you are and what you do.
No one cares.
No one cares about who you are or what you do.
They’re too busy worrying about their lives.
Humans are inherently selfish.
Sometimes to get where you want, you have to be selfish.
You have to decide that other people cannot control who you become.
You have to decide that other people’s opinion of you cannot be greater than your opinion of yourself.
You have to choose you.
You have to choose investing in yourself and what you want to do.
If that’s playing video games and being the best gamer in the world, so be it.
Go learn the craft. Watch the pros. Put in the hours. But just know that there’s a very small group of people around the world who will ever achieve that.
You have to take risks. You have to fail. You have to show up again and again with no success in order to get there.
Even then, nothing is guaranteed.
It could all disappear tomorrow.
Are you ready for that?
A lot of people aren’t.
They give up too early.
They don’t want to put in years of effort.
It’s hard.
It’s really hard.
Even me, I’ve really only been writing in the last 3 years.
That’s not that long.
Can you keep doing this for 5-10-15 years?
Because that’s what it takes to be great.
Showing up again and again no matter the outcome.
Commitment to the process.
Of trying.
Of working on your craft.
Of trying to contribute your gift to society.
It’s hard.
There will be a lot of difficult days.
There will be lots of moments of failure.
There may even be some successes.
No matter what, commit to the work.
The work is what matters, everything else is noise.
The world is mostly noise.
Block it out and work on you.
Compete with yourself.
See how far you can take yourself because everything’s in your control.
The Internet has democratized everything.
If you want to meet people, go after it.
If you want to volunteer and contribute your time, actually do it.
Don’t just talk about it but go do it.
Words are meaningless without action.
Never forget that.
You have to try and conquer your mind.
Understand how it works.
Do the work of examining yourself before examining the world.
I’m not perfect.
I’ll never be.
But I’m trying.
I’m trying to be a little bit better every day.
Just 1% better.
So far that’s worked out pretty well for me.
If you do that for long enough, the result will be infinite.
You have to maintain good habits.
You have to commit time to something for years without any perceived success.
Commit to the work and the results will come.
Share your gift with the world.
No matter how inside your head you get, always remember your why.
You're doing it for younger you.
You're doing it for older you.
You're doing it for one person who finds value out of it.
All the negativity is just noise.
Don’t mind it.
It’s the price of admission for being successful.
Welcome it.
Embrace it.
Enjoy it.
Because it means you’re doing something meaningful.
Let people try and put you down.
Let people doubt you.
Let the world believe you can’t do it.
Then show them.
I became a doctor turned venture capitalist and predicted a market crash.
Where I go from here, who knows.
But I’m committed to the process of discovering myself and sharing it with the world.
As much as I make you believe I have the answers, I have no idea what’s coming.
I’m just trying to make sense of this thing we call life.
We only get one.
Don’t waste it.
Remember, it’s all in your head.
