Day 1577 - Jan.23.23 - Be in service to the work

Creativity is hard. It’s difficult to follow that voice inside your head telling you to share your story through creating something while the devil on the other shoulder tells you ‘you’re not good enough.’ It’s like the angel and devil characters in Emperor’s New Groove. Remember laughing at the characters as kids but not till I watched it recently did I realize the value of those characters. It’s the positive and negative subconscious mind. For most people, they let the negative mind win out because it’s easier to do. It’s easier to blame the world or someone else for your problems. It’s easier to be pessimistic than optimistic. Pessimism draws eyeballs while optimism doesn’t. It players into people’s amygdalas instead of the positive centres of the mind. You can’t let that negative voice win as a creative. You have to get over the fear. Remember the importance of your life is in service to the work, not the outcome or pleasing other people. Once you create your art, share it and let it go. Come back and keep working on the next thing. Don’t judge your art and stop yourself from sharing it with the world. As long as you like it and are happy with it, that’s all that matters. Make what you like. Create the world you want to see by building it and sharing your creativity. We all have it in us and it’s our job to share it with the world, even when it’s hard
