Appreciate the losses

Appreciate the losses:

Appreciate the losses.

Played golf with my dad today and was all tied going into the last few holes.

3 putted all 3 of the last holes.

Hadn’t done that all round.

I choked.

It’s ok.

You have to reflect on the losses and figure out how to be better next time.

You need to lose.

Everyone does.

It’s what you do about your losses that determine where you’ll go in life.

Losing early in life is such a privilege.

It helps you build resilience.

It shows you the world doesn’t end when you fail.

No one’s paying attention to you anyway.

You’re thinking of yourself way more than other people even care.

But if you want to be successful in life, you need to take more losses.

You need to create more failures.

If you only create one thing, you have no idea if it’s good or not.

In fact, it probably sucks.

When you start anything new, you’ll suck.

Getting better at something takes time.

Lots of it.

Through that will be lots of failures.

Lots of times of self-doubt.

Lots of times wondering if any of it is worth it.

Lots of times in your own head wondering if anyone will ever read this.

But you have to keep pushing.

You have to keep creating because you have no idea what will hit.

What piece evokes emotion in people that will want them to spend more time with your work.

I have no clue what resonates with people or not.

But that doesn’t matter.

I’m creating for myself and as long as I’m happy with what I’m making, other people’s opinions aren’t relevant.

You’ll never appease everyone.

You’ll never make everyone happy.

You don’t have to.

But when you create, expect a lot of criticism.

If you want to create online, you’ll have to listen to a lot of those on the sideline criticizing you from behind a screen talking shit and being negative.

Screw those people, they don’t know you.

Block out the noise.

Focus on what makes you happy.

But do the work.

Fail again and again.

Keep trying.

Keep losing.

Appreciate the losses.

It’s how you learn how to win.
