Be courageous

Be courageous

Be courageous:

Be courageous.

Live life with courage.

Went to Dave Chappelle’s concert tonight. He’s been trying to get cancelled recently from the ‘woke’ crowd because of his comedy and comments about trans people.

But his jokes were funny.

Every single type of person deserves to be made fun of.

You can’t try to cancel someone but not take it.

To be fair it’s also just social media, which really amplifies the message but those people can make your life hell.

The Internet is undefeated.

Yet I have so much respect for what Dave has done and continues to do.

His fans know his comedy.

If you don’t like his stuff, turn off the TV and don’t watch him.

You don’t have to listen to him.

That’s your choice.

But this guy is one of the kings of American comedy.

He’s been doing it for so long and is not afraid to tell the truth.

During the documentary he presented at the concert, there was a part about Michelle Wolf, another comic that was staying at Dave’s house at the beginning of the pandemic.

She’s performing her set. Dave is watching her in the back room on the TV. He says ‘she’s hiding something.’

The next moment he confronts Michelle and she goes ‘yea. But I don’t want to say that stuff. I don’t know if I’m ready.’

Dave says, ‘it doesn’t matter. Tell your truth. Those that will want to come with you will join and the fans that don’t like what you’ve said, ‘fuck em.’

That shit hit me hard.

We’re so afraid.

We’re so scared to live our authentic lives.

Other people’s opinions hold us back from a lot.

We let other people’s thoughts pollute our mind into thinking we’re not good enough. We’ll never get there.

But that’s all a lie we tell ourselves.

We just don’t want to do the work to confront our demons.

We crave distractions.

We can’t sit alone anymore with our thoughts.

Our generation is so concerned about always being accessible on their phone.

Put down your phone and go do something.

Stop wasting your time.

Watching Tik Tok or looking at Instagram is not going to make you a better person.

It’s not going to help you in life.

It’s just an application designed to give you the idea that you constantly need to be connected to the world while robbing you of your ability to think and focus.

Our phones can be so toxic.

The problem is it’s become so ingrained in society that everyone’s addicted to the immediate dopamine hit.

The notification activates the same neural pathway involved in cocaine and drug addiction.

Social media is society’s modern day cocaine.

We think we need it more than we do.

The world will go on without you just like it has before you were born and just like it will when you die.

You and I are not that important.

We’re not that special.

We’re just one person during one period of history on a planet of 7 billion that’s existed for hundreds of millions of years.

We’re but a spec in the grand scheme of things.

So we might as well do what we want.

The problem is getting there is very uncomfortable.

It will be really hard.

There will be many setbacks along the way.

But you’ll get through it.

Humans are very adaptable creatures.

Give us enough time and we’ll figure it out.

But you cannot be afraid.

You cannot fear the unknown.

The unknown exists every day.

We have no idea what the future holds.

Our lives can change at any moment.

So we might as well live our best life.

We might as well try and be the best version of ourselves we can be.

Otherwise life gets boring.

It gets mundane.

It gets comfortable.

Screw comfort.

Go be uncomfortable.

Go do something that scares you.

Go conquer your fears.

Go challenge yourself to do something crazy.

We all have one life with only so much time on this planet.

If you want to accomplish something in your life, you have to be uncomfortable.

You have to chase uncomfortable experiences.

Push yourself harder because you can accomplish anything.

The only person holding you back in your life is yourself.

Don’t blame anyone else for why you ended up where you are. You’re responsible.

Once you understand that, you begin to realize what’s in your control and what’s not.

Worry about what is. Forget about what’s not.

There’s only so much you can control in life.

Most of it you can’t.

So for the things you can’t, stop worrying.

Many of those ideas you’ve come up with in your head won’t happen.

Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

Through those experiences, there will be many difficult ones.

What are you going to do about those?

Are you going to let them define you or are you going to push through them?

If you want success in life, you can’t let experiences define you.

Your goal is continuous learning.

Never stop.

Through that you’ll find what you really love.

But it won’t be easy.

Be courageous and you’ll be more successful than you’ll ever know.
