Birthday wishes:
Birthday wishes.
For something so small, they do mean something.
They mean people care.
People check in.
People say hi and give you a moment of their time.
Didn’t have any recognition for years.
Worked at a place for over half a decade and not once did anyone at my office wish me a happy birthday.
Never.
It showed how much they cared.
Not at all.
I was a pawn.
A number.
Just a guy who did a job.
I wasn’t a person.
I didn’t have dreams.
Or goals.
Or ambitions.
They never asked me about me.
When it ended, I knew.
I knew the kind of people I was dealing with.
They never cared about people.
This org on the other hand.
It’s different.
Had several people today say happy birthday to me.
A few even came up and had a chat.
It was something small.
But it meant something.
Meant something to me.
For someone who didn’t have it for years, it felt good.
Good to be recognized.
Good to be seen.
Also had more of my friends message me this year.
Close friends and family.
It means something.
It feels so small.
But for some reason I can’t stop thinking about it.
With 10 minutes left in my birthday.
All I keep thinking is this.
People care.
People notice.
People remember.
They do see me.
They do recognize me.
They do let me know how much I mean.
Had a few great messages today.
One friend said never stop bringing energy to everything you do.
Another said thanks for inspiring everyone around you. Never stop.
Man.
Those hit.
It showed me something.
People notice.
People care.
People do recognize what I’ve done.
It’s nice.
A nice feeling for sure.
Reminds me what I have to do.
Say Happy birthday.
Send that message.
Tell people what they mean to you.
You never know how much they’ll remember it.
You may think they don’t mean a lot.
But they do.
Don’t forget to say happy birthday to those you love.
