I got Chris Rock’d:

I got Chris Rock’d.

Slapped across the face.

For no reason.

Imagine this.

You’re dancing at a wedding having a great time.

And you get slapped.

But it’s not a friendly slap.

It’s a slap with force.

And guess who it’s from?

THE GROOM.

How would that make you feel?

Hopefully you haven’t had to experience it.

Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

But unfortunately for some of us, it happens.

Happened to me tonight.

Went to a wedding for a friend.

Someone who I knew from St. Andrews.

Graduated in 2015 but knew this guy from my time there.

His reception was today.

Great night.

Had so much fun.

Drank.

Chilled.

Danced.

Had good conversations with boys I’ve known for over a decade.

Was lots of fun.

My shirt was soaked from sweat because I danced so much.

Then came the end of the night.

Last 5 minutes.

Saw the groom.

He was dancing around me in a group.

Looked him in the eyes.

Said to him.

‘Congratulations man, thank you so much for inviting us.’

Then boom.

Slapped across the face.

I looked at him.

He started laughing.

Then he left and kept dancing.

I was fuming.

Not many people saw it.

But I knew what happened.

So I left.

I breathed through it.

I was pissed.

Flaming.

Without meditation, I would’ve lost it on him.

Especially given the amount of alcohol I drank.

But I breathed.

In through the nose.

Out through the mouth.

The rest of the night.

Went outside to see my brother.

Told him what happened.

His first response -

‘Hey man, he does this. He’s drunk. It’s his wedding night.’

Fine.

But how many people do you know slap guests on their wedding night 2 minutes before the dance floor is about to close when I’ve been dancing for 3 hours?

Zero.

Never in my life.

I’ve never been bitch slapped.

Not like this.

I’ve been to many Indian weddings.

Too many.

NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I SEEN SOMEONE SLAP ONE OF THEIR GUESTS.

Ever.

So I went outside raging.

Then one of my friends brought the groom.

He’s obviously drunk.

And he said ‘hey man, I didn’t mean it. Come on dude, I did it to one of our other friends the whole night.’

So I asked that friend.

He didn’t get slapped.

He got touched.

He got slapped on the back.

But he did not get slapped across the face.

So let me ask you this?

How should I feel?

Went to the guy’s wedding, gave him a gift, changed my schedule, showed up to his pre-wedding, then wedding and reception, danced the whole night then got slapped across the face by the groom.

How would you feel?

Not great I imagine.

Same as me.

I know I’m hot.

I know I’m pissed.

I know I’m angry.

Let’s see.

Getting slapped really wakes you up.

Especially when you get Chris Rock’d.
