Inspiration:
Inspiration.
We all need it.
Someone or something that inspires us.
Gets us motivated.
Gets us off our ass and pushes us to do something.
Every single person needs it.
Some get it from their parents.
Others from their role models.
Some from TV.
Others from books.
Some from history.
Others from moments of brilliance.
All of us need inspiration.
Especially when the world is closing in.
When it feels like it’s collapsing on us.
Where we feel like we’re barely surviving under the constant burden and stress.
We need inspiration most in those moments.
Had 2 things today that inspired me.
One was watching Apollo 11.
The other was Yes Theory’s video about Matt’s journey to the Ironman.
Both vastly different.
Yet both super inspirational.
Apollo 11 is an epic documentary about the moon landing.
So good.
It had lots of never-before-seen footage.
Of the moon.
The spacecraft.
Their journey into space.
The people behind the scenes.
All of it.
July 19, 1969.
A day etched in history.
When NASA showed the world what was possible when you dream big and reach for the stars.
To think humans got to the moon in the 60s with the technology then is nothing short of miraculous.
It’s incredible what humanity can do when it has a singular goal.
We need something like that now.
Still never found a good answer as to why we can’t send someone to the moon and back now.
Why has it taken over 50 years?
If we could do it then, we could certainly do it now.
Feels like at this moment in time, the world needs a positive story everyone can get behind.
Sending people to the moon and back could be that.
The second thing was the video about the Ironman.
I’d seen it 5 years ago when he posted it and couldn’t stop crying.
Had to rewatch it again and had the same emotion.
This journey of struggle.
And commitment.
And resilience.
To complete what seems like an impossible task.
3.8k swim.
180k bike.
42k run.
All together.
That dream felt insane to me.
It still does.
Yet that video many years ago implanted an idea.
It inceptioned me.
What if?
What if I could do that?
I’ve just taken my first step.
Booked an Ironman for next year.
I’m doing it.
Conquering this once-impossible challenge.
I know it’ll be hard.
I know it’ll be tough.
I know it’ll be a struggle.
But I also know I can do it.
I can get there.
But in those dark days, I’m going to need inspiration.
Wherever it comes from, I need it.
We all do.
Go find your inspiration.
