Is individualism destroying us:

Is individualism destroying us?

Is it making society weaker?

Is it slowly eroding the West and its values?

We’re becoming increasingly stuck.

Stuck in our homes.

Stuck to our devices.

Stuck to our routines.

Spending more time speaking digitally.

Less time speaking in person.

More time in the Matrix.

Less time in real life.

Is that because of the West?

Social media companies?

Western values?

Because the east is about the unit.

The family.

People around you.

It’s routine to have generations of families live together in Eastern cultures.

The West is less so.

More people are sending their parents to retirement homes rather than care for them.

That happens less in Asian households.

You are raised with the family being everything.

Does it create problems?

1000%.

Having 3 generations live in one house has its own issues.

But you’re taught to socialize and be with people of different generations.

Different people at different stages.

Now we have people isolated.

By themselves.

In condos.

In dorms.

In houses.

Not wanting to leave.

Addicted to their phone.

Choosing not to participate in the world.

Or doing it behind a screen.

Thinking their whole personality can be digital.

Many are great texters and yet have no social skills.

They can’t speak to you in person.

They’re stale.

They’re boring.

They have no chat.

You also have people leaving the dating market.

A few podcasters like Chris Williamson and Professor Galloway have been talking about this.

People are not wanting to date.

They’d rather get a dog, pet or just be by themselves.

Families aren’t being promoted.

That has a lot to do with where we are economically IMO more so than anything else, but it’s also emotional.

We need to start getting people in front of each other.

Undistracted.

Having conversations.

Learning about each other.

We don’t do that enough.

We’re stuck being trapped.

Trapped in our phones.

Trapped in our algorithms.

Trapped in our head.

We’re made to believe by the US media that your happiness is the most important.

It’s about your desires, not anyone else’s.

It’s about your goals and not the goals of society.

They make you believe in the individual rather than the collective.

Your desires will destroy you.

There’s a reason the Bhagavad Gita says desire is the cause of misery.

Do not believe your own desires are all that should be satisfied.

Especially at the expense of others.

Obeying individualistic desires is slavery.

And we’re all trapped.

All we really want is social connection.

We need it.

Loneliness has been declared a global health crisis.

The physical effects are worse than that of smoking packs a day for decades.

The longest study on happiness in history done by Harvard over 70+ years said the number one predictor of happiness is relationships.

It’s having people around you and enjoying life with them.

Life is boring alone.

It’s not fun.

It’s not enjoyable.

It’s not meaningful.

Life is great when you’re enjoying it with others around you.

The collective is important.

Not the individual.

Don’t let individualism isolate you.

Don’t let individualism control you.

Don’t let individualism destroy you.
