Day 1376 - July.6.22 - Compare yourself to your previous self

Don’t be in a rush. Don’t worry if you’re not as successful in your head as you want to be. Don’t compare yourself to the highlight reel of people you barely know. You don’t know what they’re really going through and success to you could be failure to them. Most people are unhappy no matter what they show online. Most people care too much about the opinions of others. They hold strangers’ opinions over their opinion of themself. How screwed up is that? Problem is most people never realize that chasing external validation, no matter if it’s from strangers, friends or family, will never validate you. It’ll never make you happy. Never allow your happiness to be controlled by other people. You’re setting yourself up for a lifetime of disappointment by doing that. Love yourself first. Are you happy with who you are? Are you making progress? Are you working on yourself and getting a baby step closer to where you want to be? If so, then all the external noise doesn’t matter. It’s here today, gone tomorrow, like most of life. Instead bet on your future self by making small actions and dedicating little bits of time every day to investing in yourself, no matter what that is. You don’t need the comparisons to others to be happy, you need the comparison to your previous self. Don’t be in a rush, we’re all just figuring it out as we go.
