Life is about risk

Life is about risk

Life is about risk:

Life is about risk.

How much are you willing to risk for an outcome?

It’s also about reward.

How much can you gain from that outcome?

No reward comes without risk.

People normally think ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’ and stress about that.

Instead, think ‘what’s the best that can happen?’

We default to the negative.

Why?

Is it our parents?

Is it our friends?

Is it the people around us?

Or is it also our subconscious?

One that was built as a child we had no control over.

Those habits can be hard to break.

Very hard.

But you have a choice.

You have a choice to default to positive.

It takes time, but can be done.

It’s also taking chances.

Remembering what you have to lose.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing.

We’re all gonna die one day.

Could be tomorrow.

Could be in 60 years.

We don’t know when.

We don’t know how.

But that is a certainty.

Every single one of us.

And after a little while, no one will remember us.

Because all the people who know us will also not be here.

We only have one life.

This life.

Could be shit.

Could be good.

The most important thing, is it could be better.

Figure out how you can make it better.

What choices can you make to do better?

Eat healthier.

Try new things.

Use the 24 hours we all have to work on yourself.

Through that, you need to take risks.

You need to take chances.

You need to reach out to the world and see what comes back.

You can only sit on your ass for so long before life passes you by.

What does that mean?

Try something new.

Try something you’ve always wanted to.

Start that business.

Write that novel.

Reach out to that person.

The worst thing that happens is exactly where you are.

The best thing is your life could be 100000x better.

You don’t know.

But the risk is always worth it.

The world doesn’t care how many times you’re wrong.

But it will reward you when you’re right.

Sometimes that takes years.

Decades.

But if you love it and feel like you’re providing value to someone, keep doing it.

As Neil Gamman said, make good art.

Whatever your circumstances, make good art.

And put that art into the world.

Most people won’t respond.

But some will.

Those people could change your life forever.

Another risk that is always worth taking.

Sending cold emails.

Largest asymmetric bet I’ve ever taken.

Changed my life with no downside.

Reach out to your role models.

Reach out to companies.

Reach out to people you don’t know.

Ask for their time.

Most of them won’t respond.

But some will.

The ones that want to help you will.

And your life will change forever.

Worst thing that happens is exactly where you are.

Best thing is your life changes forever.

We need a society to take more risks.

Calculated ones.

Could you fail?

Absolutely.

You will.

But in the attempt, you’ll have learned so much more than if you sat there and did nothing.

And if you stick to it for long enough, you’ll succeed.

Guarantee it.

More than you could ever imagine.

For that to happen, you have to take risk.

The risks you take for the rewards you make.

Life is about risk.
