No one is coming to save you:
No one is coming to save you.
You’re on your own.
Historically we had families and communities around us.
But now most people are on their own, left to their own devices.
Naval talked about this beautifully on his Joe Rogan appearance.
The modern struggle is distractions.
You’re being peppered 24/7 with ads, memes, videos, and tweets all through your phone that you can’t put down.
You know subconsciously that all that time wasted is not good for you, yet you continue to use it.
You continue to be addicted letting your brain be captured by corporations who have spent billions of dollars to keep you an addict.
We all know the feeling.
When you’ve doom scrolled enough, switched through 5 of your social media apps and you look up at the clock and an hour is gone?
Doesn’t make you feel good right?
This is the hardest part.
The hardest part is throwing that phone away, sitting by yourself and processing your thoughts.
Processing your mind.
Processing your story and your experiences.
None of us want to confront the demons in our heads so we turn to distractions instead.
Because they’re so easy.
It’s so easy to pass time and be distracted by what’s around us.
But that’s not going to help you grow.
That’s not going to help you change.
That’s not going to help you be a better person.
You need to hold yourself accountable.
You need to take control of your time.
You need to decide what you want out of life and go get it.
Get after it.
Get to work.
Here’s the secret.
Write down your goals in life, repeat them to yourself multiple times a day for months and watch your brain show you the possibilities and path to your dream.
Then get to work.
You will be on your own island.
Most people won’t understand what you’re doing.
But you’ll know.
You’re working on your dreams.
And don’t ever let anyone tell you that your dreams are too big.
Screw them.
What they say is just an opinion, not a fact.
Never let their opinion of you be higher than you’re opinion of you.
You got this.
You can get there.
But you gotta get to work.
You gotta drop the distractions.
You gotta learn to focus.
Do all of these things, be patient and watch the world open up.
No one is coming to save you.
You have to save you.
