One day it’ll all be gone:
One day it’ll all be gone.
All of this.
You.
Your money.
Your possessions.
Your family.
Your friends.
Your experiences.
Your memories.
Your moments.
Your history.
Your legacy.
All of it will disappear.
What are you left with?
Not much.
Moments.
Memories.
Experiences with those you love.
That’s all you take with you to the grave.
Was reminded about the fragility of life today.
How quickly it can all disappear.
Went to my cousin’s grandfather’s funeral.
They didn’t know him well.
We didn’t either.
Even my uncle wasn’t on the best of terms.
Yet here he was.
Grieving.
Crying over the loss of his father.
It was hard seeing him like that.
Then it was this.
Came back to my grandparents’ house when my mom dropped the news.
One of their old friends passed away in India.
Had a brain aneurysm while at a wedding with his mom.
Gone.
Just like that.
I spoke to him a few months back at a 60th birthday party.
Hadn’t seen him since I was a kid.
Spoke for about 10 minutes and was great to catch up.
That guy is now gone.
Death is like that.
Instant.
Immediately, all your other problems disappear.
When someone close to you dies, everything changes.
Everything.
The facade of life.
The fragility of it.
All of it hits you.
What’s the point of all of this when someone can be gone just like that?
Yet.
That’s the beauty of life.
The fragility of it.
The fact that we’re here and we go.
Everything that is born must die.
That is an immeasurable law of the universe.
We will go one day.
So will all those we love.
We don’t know when that day will come.
But it will be here sooner than you think.
For some it is tomorrow.
For others it’s in 60 years.
We don’t know when that day will happen.
But we do know it’s coming.
It’s inevitable.
So don’t worry about petty things.
Silly issues.
Don’t hold grudges.
Let things go.
Not for the other person.
For you.
It’s not worth it.
Stop holding in stress.
Let it go.
You can’t control most of the world.
So stop thinking about that.
Focus on what you can.
Focus on you.
Focus on building the best life you can with what you’ve got.
Live the life that you want to live.
Because remember.
One day it’ll all be gone.
