‘When people tell you your hot, doubt yourself’
When people tell you your hot, doubt yourself.
Pharrell said that to Kanye in the 2nd episode of his documentary on Netflix.
That’s the key to success and longevity in any field.
Don’t believe your own bullshit.
Don’t believe your own success.
Work for more.
When you win, send yourself to the bottom and start again.
Keep climbing the imaginary mountain.
Remember when you hit one peak, there’s another one waiting.
If you want to achieve greatness, it’s striving to reach the peaks for decades.
Doing it again and again, even when you’re successful.
Success is a lousy teacher.
It makes you think you’re better than you are.
It makes you believe you’re superior to someone else.
Nah b.
No one is.
We’re all born to different families, circumstances and environments, but we’re all the same.
We’re all just trying to figure out life with the tools that we’re born with and the environments we’re exposed to as children.
Why you are more or less successful largely isn’t due to you.
Many successful people are born into luck.
That’s ok.
But their stories aren’t as impressive as the ones who aren’t born so lucky.
They had to face many more hurdles compared to everyone else to get to where they are.
They know how hard they’ve had to work to get to where they are and still, they’ll be doubted.
Don’t matter, keep coming.
Keep showing up for the work.
Don’t get complacent.
Don’t let the world brainwash you into believing you’re better than you are.
You’re not.
All you can control is effort.
You cannot control outcomes.
So when people tell you your hot, doubt yourself.
Commit to the work and everything else will come.
