You are a superstar:
You are a superstar.
A one of one.
Unlike anyone else.
No one can compete with you on being you.
For good.
And bad.
You got lucky.
Really lucky.
But you also worked hard.
You showed up.
You continued to work when no one was paying attention.
That’s different.
You know you’re a winner.
You know you’ve already won.
You know everything from here on out is icing on the cake.
Since leaving medicine, I’ve tried to live every day as if it were my last.
Waking up thinking ‘could this be it?’
If it is, I’m so happy with how everything turned out.
Great family.
Great friends.
Awesome job.
Got to travel.
Got to experience the world.
Got to take risks.
Forged my own path.
Did things no one else did.
Connected people.
Showed up.
Had fun.
What more could you ask for?
Some days it all feels fake.
Like I’m in the Truman show and one day it’s all going to come crumbling down.
It definitely will once you’re gone.
But while you’re here, make the most of it.
Show up.
Be nice.
Take risks.
Be vulnerable.
Be honest.
Don’t lie to yourself.
Chase your dreams.
Find your purpose.
Be in service to others.
Establish great relationships.
Teach anyone who will listen.
You do all that and you will be remembered forever.
Just remember, you’ve already won.
You’re a superstar.
