You’re not on anyone else’s timeline:
You’re not on anyone else’s timeline.
You don’t have to accomplish anything anyone else wants you to accomplish.
You don’t have to have your life sorted by a certain age.
You don’t have to know what you want your future to be.
You don’t have to do what your parents want you to do.
You have a choice.
You can choose the path less traveled, one filled with a lot of failure and self-doubt that is more fulfilling, or the path laid out in front of you.
It’s up to you.
No matter what, you don’t have to live up to anyone else’s expectations of what they think you’re life should be.
Live life on your timeline.
Relax.
Take a break for a little while.
Pick a job that seems unconventional.
Go a path that no one else has traveled.
Life becomes a lot more fun like that.
It doesn’t mean it’s not without its challenges, but the challenges are what you enjoy.
Embrace challenges. Confront them head on. Do things that seem scary to you.
We can’t all live in our safe little bubble hoping nothing will happen to us.
It will.
The future is unexpected.
We have no idea what will happen tomorrow.
But if your tomorrow looks very similar to today, are you ok with that?
Are you ok with settling?
Or do you want to live a fulfilled life full of challenges, stories, and memories?
We have a choice.
You have to accept the criticism.
You have to accept many people in your life will tell you you’re crazy.
Some may never speak to you again.
Are you ok with that?
Depends on what you want in life.
If you like where you are and don’t want to be challenged, all good.
Just don’t criticize the people that are actually trying, failing and showing up every day to do something difficult.
They embrace the challenge and conquer their brains every day.
They know life timelines are bullshit.
You don’t have to do anything by any age.
There will be pressure on you, particularly from your parents, to accomplish things by a certain time, but you don’t have to.
Use your free time to pursue your curiosities and invest in your own education.
Through that pursuit, you’ll find what you love.
Once you do that, other people’s idea of your life becomes a lot less important.
It becomes about you and what you want to accomplish in life.
Do the work to discover who you really are.
Whether that is therapy, meditating, group discussions, psychedelics, running or writing, find a healthy way to discover your brain and what makes you tick.
It takes a long time and a lot of work, but it’s so worth it.
No one is going to clap for you along the way and it’s a very lonely and difficult journey.
It’s hard to embrace the deepest and darkest parts of yourself.
But you have to love yourself first.
Take care of yourself because if you’re operating at your best, everyone around you will be happier.
Don’t worry about other people’s timeline of your life.
They’re not living your life, you are.
