Am I getting better as a writer?
Am I getting better as a writer?
Are my blog posts becoming better?
Day to day it’s hard to see.
Over time, it’s much easier.
I’m 1000% better as a writer today than I was in January 2021.
Am I better today than I was yesterday?
Hard to say.
I’ve read posts I wrote last year that are incredible to me and read ones a few days ago that feel crap.
It’s hard to assess progress day to day.
It’s hard to see the forest from the trees if you’re only comparing yourself to yesterday.
But if you take a step back and evaluate yourself over a longer period of time, you’ll often see a massive improvement.
Many artists and musicians who have worked on their craft for years probably feel like their recent work may not stack up to the ones from years ago, but they can’t control that.
They can’t control what other people are going to say about their work.
All they can do is show up.
Show up and commit to the work no matter the outcomes.
So day to day I don’t know if I’m getting better.
I may write 1000 duds from here on out.
I can’t control if people will like them or not, but I can show up and put my best effort.
One of the four agreements, always do your best.
I don’t know if I’m getting better as a writer but at least I’m trying.
