America's decline is happening before our eyes

America’s decline is happening before our eyes:

America’s decline is happening before our eyes.

Saw this Balajis tweet today and it made me think.

America’s power amongst the world is dwindling and everyone can see it happening.

The Afghanistan war was a disaster.

The Taliban re-occupied the country days after the US pulled out.

The US intelligence lied to its people and the world.

Afghanistan is our generation’s Vietnam.

A conflict the US had no right to intervene in, but chose anyway to advance national interests and fight the war on terror.

Well guess what? Now terror is happening in their backyard.

Terrorists overtook the capitol building and the world watched America turn into a 3rd world dictatorship for a day.

Should other countries invade America and change their government because of conflict happening in their own country?

If you ask an American, they would think that statement is blasphemous.

Yet America has been doing that for so long.

It happened throughout the 1900s when the US tried to overthrow governments around the world.

But America is in decline.

They’re losing their power in the world. Their dollar is declining. The average American is not educated. They can barely afford healthcare. They’re infrastructure is failing. Both political parties are growing farther and farther apart every single day. They’re not manufacturing enough to compete with the rest of the world.

For too long the world looked to America to help them solve their problems.

That’s not the case anymore.

Look at these two pictures.

America’s place in the world has been declining for decades.

The thing that will put it over the top is the next great crash.

Foreign governments can’t trust the US dollar as much anymore.

Russia sold off all its US dollar assets. Japan’s central bank has done the same by shifting away from dollars.

Countries aren’t that stupid. They know how history works.

Think about this for one second – every single currency ever known to humanity has failed. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

The US dollar will be no different.

Their status as global reserve currency could disappear in the next 15-20 years.

If and when that happens, everything changes.

Also listened to this Sam Harris podcast today with Dambisa Moyo, an internationally renowned economist who writes about macroeconomics and global affairs.

It’s incredible and would highly recommend it if you enjoy politics and economics.

She was discussing how developed countries and America in particular are going to have great problems going into the next few decades. They haven’t allocated their resources properly to advance the future of their country. They haven’t invested in long term-oriented plans. They’re not investing in their infrastructure and they’re losing the technology race.

It’s funny because she talked about how this period for America could be similar to the 1930s and 40s, something I’ve been discussing for months.

The issue with that time is we had a world war.

We can’t have that today. With all the nuclear weapons countries have, any bad move by a power hungry leader could be devastating for humanity.

I hope we never get there, but another global financial crisis will completely shift the balance of power.

The next decade will be fascinating to watch unfold.

Like I’ve said before, short America, long the rest of the world.
