Baby steps:
Baby steps.
Small steps.
One by one.
You can’t solve all your problems tomorrow.
You can’t accomplish all your goals tomorrow.
You can’t get exponentially better tomorrow.
But you can start.
You can begin.
You can start with a small action.
A few minutes.
I’d recommend breathing.
Breathing with yourself.
Learning to meditate.
Even a few minutes.
Then exercise.
Move your body.
Even for a few minutes.
Set a goal.
Small one.
1 push-up.
Then 2.
Then 5.
Then 10.
Then 20.
Then 50.
Then 100.
Then add in a few more exercises.
A walk.
A run.
Jumping jacks.
Skipping rope.
Yoga.
A few minutes.
Then more.
We all have that time in the day for ourselves.
We tell ourselves we don’t.
But we do.
If you don’t believe me, look at your phone.
You’re just making a choice.
And it’s a tough one.
You’re an addict.
Can’t look away.
Have to respond to that person.
Have to scroll Instagram.
Have to see those reels.
Have to know what’s going on in the news.
But you forget about you.
You forget about your surroundings.
You forget about what’s in front of you.
Focus on that first.
Get that better first before you go to your phone.
Use your phone addiction as a reward.
Only look at something once you’ve accomplished something for yourself.
A small thing.
Whatever it may be.
But make it yours.
Then go spend as much time as you want on your phone.
Eventually, you’ll realize it’s not helping you.
It’s not making you better.
It’s giving you the illusion of connectedness when it’s really robbing you of your time.
It’s destroying your attention.
It’s pulling you out of what’s in front of you.
Get better at that first.
You have to be selfish.
You have to choose you.
You can’t always be there for other people and not yourself.
Remember, always put your own mask before assisting another person.
There’s a reason they say that.
You gotta make sure you’re good first.
Then worry about the world.
You only get there with learning.
With exercise.
With reading.
With reflecting.
With investing time in yourself.
For that you need to be patient.
You can’t solve it all tomorrow.
But start.
Be consistent.
Show up.
Even when you don’t want to.
Learn from the best.
Find good role models.
Follow them.
Then start on yourself.
Execute.
