Do not be afraid of writing garbage

Do not be afraid of writing garbage

Do not be afraid of writing garbage:

Do not be afraid of writing garbage.

To get good at anything, you must produce a lot of garbage.

A lot of attempts that suck.

Posts that don’t work.

Ideas that don’t make sense.

Predictions that don’t come true.

Many.

But if you stay consistent over a long time, some of those efforts will be good.

Some will be interesting.

Some will be solid ideas.

Some will even shock you.

Looking back at some of the posts I’ve written, some could be better.

But some make me tear up because I can’t believe I wrote them.

This guy pretending like he knows what he’s doing.

Articulated ideas in that way.

I wonder if my old posts will be considered my greatest.

Will I ever live up to what I’ve done?

It’s like looking at artists and considering their best work some of their earliest albums.

Like Drake with Take Care and Kanye with College Dropout.

But they don’t have to live up to anything.

Because they’ve produced over a decade of work.

You have no idea which posts will resonate most with people.

You have no idea how they’ll react.

Some may consider your earliest work the best.

Some may consider your later works better.

You have no clue and to be honest, you can’t control that.

All you can control is the effort you put in.

The quantity of posts is in your control.

That’s what should be important.

Over a long career, some of what you do will be good and some will be bad.

Don’t mind the outcomes.

Focus on producing quality work that you enjoy.

If you enjoy it, then it doesn’t matter.

The more success you get, the more the noise will get louder.

The more people will call your work garbage.

All good.

Write more garbage.
