Better to know and save time rather than waste your time self-loathing in your own thoughts when the answer would’ve always been the same.

Would’ve saved me a lot of time spent thinking about a girl who never liked me.

In my first few years of university, there was this girl I liked.

‍

We were in the same year, same classes and she was from the same city as I was.

‍

Met her one of the first days of uni and had this infatuation with her.

‍

Having all these ideas of getting together and how it would happen.

‍

All of which never occurred.

‍

Then watched as she moved from white guy to white guy, all of them being D bags.

‍

Classic tall white posh British dudes.

‍

Meanwhile, I kept sitting there overthinking all these fake scenarios for years.

‍

Finally she was in between her white boys when I texted her how I felt, that I always had a crush and wanted to go on a date.

‍

She politely declined as she didn’t feel the same way.

‍

It broke my heart at that time but soon after, I moved on.

‍

I waited almost 3 years for that answer when I could’ve known so much earlier.

‍

I could’ve learned one of the best relationship pieces of advice.

‍

In a relationship, the other person actually has to like you.

‍

She didn’t like me.

‍

The feelings were never reciprocal.

‍

Never be with someone who doesn’t want to be with you.

‍

Sometimes you have to chase people, but if after a while the other person doesn’t want to spend time with you, move on.

‍

Don’t waste your time and energy wanting to get them back.

‍

One - because they have all the power and leverage in the relationship and two because fuck being with someone who doesn’t enjoy being with you.

‍

It’s not worth your time. 

‍

So instead of wasting years of your life wondering if someone likes you or not, just ask them.

‍

If they don’t feel the same way about you, move on.

‍

Sure you’ll be sad in the moment and for a little while, but you’ll be so grateful you didn’t spend your time chasing something that never was.
