Day 823 - Day 313 Q - Jan.17.21 - Don’t run another race

Don’t run anyone else’s race. The only race that matters in the end is your own. Make sure you’re living the life you want to live on your terms, not everyone else’s. Let them do their thing. If they’re around you and close to you, help them be better. If everyone around you is winning, you’re going to be winning. But you don’t have to achieve anyone’s expectations but your own. They’re the most important. Keep running your race. You’re only at mile 1 and yet it feels like you’ve done so much. You’re a doctor, graduated with 2 degrees from Scotland, lived in the Netherlands working as a VC then spent the last few years at home working for one of the biggest firms in the country. Be proud of that. You made it here. Yet you’re only at the starting line. What do you wanna do over the next 25 years? Who do you want to become? I’m not sure yet but impact through action is definitely going to be a part of it. You have to take action no matter which situation you’re in. There’s only so much distance learning you can do watching videos on how to cook. Eventually you have to get your hands dirty. You have to do the work and fail again and again. Never be afraid to fail and try something that’s completely outside of the box. The point is to challenge yourself constantly to do things that seemed impossible. But don’t do it all on your own. Work with people around you to reach your goals. Help them help you. Ultimately it’s your race but it’s nice to have family and friends running right beside you.
