Day 824 - Day 314 Q - Jan.18.21 - Tiger woods
Just finished the Tiger documentary on HBO and what a story. The rise, the fall, the injuries and the comeback. Amazing to watch it unfold. Almost a true hero’s journey, although I wouldn’t really call Tiger a hero. He may be in some people’s eyes but I’m not sure he’s the person I’d want my kids to be like. He’s flawed just like every other human being. Just because he does something on TV in front of millions better than anyone does not make him an alien. He’s still human. His super human work ethic and unrelenting drive to be the best is something to admire, but you can see how that was a part of his downfall. He thought he was invincible. That no one could touch him. That the grind and working with Navy Seals on your body and swinging hard since he was 2 wasn’t going to take a toll on his body. He needed a release in a world where a camera is pointed at you 24/7, everywhere you go in the world, you need something to get away front hat. To just sit with family and people you love around you to remind you what’s really important. But because of his upbringing with his dad, he completely isolated himself from the rest of the world and he stayed in his own head. Yet, his comeback story, especially coming back from fusion surgery and a hardcore drug problem, to win the biggest tournament in golf is incredible. Tiger, I salute you but you’ve had a tough life.
