Slow down:
Slow down.
Stop.
Breathe.
Be where you are.
Not where you want to be.
There is no tomorrow.
There is no yesterday.
There is only now.
Today.
This moment.
We always try to be somewhere else.
In a non-existent future.
Or in a troubled past.
But what about now?
What about where we are?
What about this moment?
Don’t miss your life.
Most of us do.
Moving from one thing to the next.
Never stopping to appreciate where we are.
Where we’ve been.
We usually do that when we’re older.
By then we’ve missed our life.
We’ve missed the moments with family.
With friends.
With colleagues.
All gone.
Next time you’re laughing, look around you.
Where are you?
Who are you with?
What are you wearing?
What’s the room look like?
Focus on that.
Focus on being there.
Happened to me a few times llast year.
Where I stopped and noticed where I was.
One was dancing with my family before a wedding in India.
Another was watching sharks swim underneath me in the Bahamas.
Last was singing a decade-old song with my friend in a hotel room.
All moments I had to remember.
This is it.
This is what I was chasing.
Being there.
Being present.
Learning to enjoy the great moments in your life.
No matter good or bad, all moments are gone.
Learn to savour them while it’s happening.
If it’s good, great.
If it’s bad, it’s a learning experience.
Learn to savour them all.
You don’t know how long you have on this planet.
None of us do.
So enjoy it while it’s here.
Learn to be here.
Learn to be present.
Learn to be slower.
Slow down.
