Thank you Mr. Rogers:

Thank you Mr. Rogers.

What an incredible man.

What a hero.

What a role model.

The man who shaped a generation of kids

A man who taught people what it was like to be good.

A man who taught people about kindness.

And compassion.

And understanding.

And love.

A man who made every one feel special.

Who spoke to kids where they were.

Who made everyone feel included.

A man who changed the way kids television was done.

A man who talked about the fears within us.

A man who shined bright in a dark world.

Just finished ‘Wont you be my neighbour’’

Incredible documentary of an incredible man.

There was one scene that hit me more than anything else.

His family talked about how he used his puppets as alter egos.

As ways to talk about the darkness inside of him.

There’s a scene where he says to a girl…

‘I’d been wondering if I was a mistake’

‘Sometimes I’m dreaming if I’m just a fake’

Man that hit me hard.

How many kids these days feel like that?

Isolated.

On their own.

No support around them.

Broken homes.

No good role models.

Drugs and alcohol all around.

No one to support them.

No one to be a positive influence on their life.

They feel like a burden.

Like what happens if they disappear?

What happens if they’re gone?

What happens if they’re no longer around?

Lots of people feel that.

Yet Fred kept saying, you are loved.

Someone out there supported you.

Take a minute to think about that person.

That person who talked to you.

Stop and think.

We all had someone.

We all had one person who smiled or influenced us in a way no one else did.

You have to remember that.

Even in those dark times.

You are loved.

You are enough.

You are needed in this world.

We need that message again.

We need a Fred Rogers.

Thank you Mr. Rogers.
