There is no perfect:
There is no perfect.
There is no ideal.
There is no one who is crushing it in every aspect of their life.
Even those you see as super successful.
They’re dealing with the same insecurities and fears we all deal with.
Everything looks one way on the outside but that’s never the real story.
The real one is the one we all choose to hide from the world.
The one we’re all ashamed of.
The one we don’t want anyone to see.
We’re all the same.
We all have that.
We all experience the same darkness, struggle and failure everyone else does.
Some people let it destory them.
Other people use it as fuel.
But be careful how far you go.
If you fly too close to perfection, you’ll come crashing down.
I grew up my whole life chasing perfection.
Trying to be the perfect kid.
Perfect student.
Perfect role model.
For what?
To make other people happy?
It wasn’t worth it.
Perfection holds you back.
Progress keeps you going.
But progress doesn’t happen without failure.
It doesn’t happen without struggle.
It doesn’t happen without confronting the demons inside you.
The ones no one can see and no one else can deal with.
No one can do the work for you.
You have to do it yourself.
You have to keep showing up every day.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when it feels like the world is laughing at you.
Even when you’re scared to keep going.
When I took the risk to leave medicine with 6 figures in debt and no future ahead of me, I didn’t know what was coming.
I didn’t know what it was going to be like.
But I was tired of trying to be perfect.
Tired of trying to be someone for someone else.
Instead I chose myself and my own imperfections.
I chose progress, consistency and discipline.
I made the choice to show up for myself every day no matter what.
Now I’m one of Canada’s emerging leaders.
Stop trying to be perfect.
Choose progress over perfection and watch how far you go.
