You need difficulty

You need difficulty:

You need difficulty.

It’s a must.

Any life well lived needs a lot of struggle.

Struggle is universal.

We all struggle.

It happens across ages, cultures, languages and religions.

Struggle is everywhere.

But, you can find purpose in the struggle.

You can find direction.

You can find your calling.

Victor Frankl told the world in ‘Man’s Search for Meaning.’

It was the only way he survived Auschwitz.

His purpose was wanting to release a book about finding meaning while facing suffering.

The man used this goal to get him through some of the worst times in history.

You need to struggle to find your purpose.

We’re entering an AI world where all of that is being flipped on its head.

ChatGPT is now being used to replace creativity.

It’s to make difficult tasks simple.

People around the world are learning that the jobs they spent their whole lives working for are being commoditized instantaneously.

Why would you need copywriters if you have ChatGPT?

Why would you need animators if you have Sora?

But here’s the thing it misses.

It misses human creativity.

It misses art created by someone trying to share their story with the world.

Sure it can produce the output but it can’t produce the process.

It can’t produce the struggle.

People around the world are about to wake up and realize the outcome is not what matters.

It’s the journey to get there that does.

Was reminded of this watching an amazing animation titled ‘ChatGPT: the Soul Eater’

It’s a lesson for all creatives.

It’s about the work.

Not the final product.

Creating art is important for that alone.

Creating art.

Only in that struggle will you find purpose.

Will you find meaning.

Will you find that voice that compels you to keep going.

That journey will be hard.

It will be long.

It will be difficult.

But I can guarantee you it will be worth it in the end.

You need difficulty to find your purpose.
