You will not hit on everything:
You will not hit on everything.
Not everything will be a success.
Was watching Kevin Hart’s recent movie ‘Man from Toronto’ and it was terrible.
It went on for too long, the story sucked, the action sequences were corny and it wasn’t funny.
I love Kevin Hart and have immense respect for his journey but I don’t like all of his movies.
Some of them suck.
I’m sure he’d say that himself.
The difference is he’s done this for long enough to know that it doesn’t matter.
He knows he doesn’t have to hit on everything.
He just has to keep taking chances.
He has to keep showing up and trying what he thinks is funny.
Sometimes people will respond and other times they won’t.
Because he’s done it long enough, he knows he has to keep taking risks.
Keep putting out different forms of content knowing some of it will suck.
Not all of it will be well received.
That’s your life as an artist.
Everything you do won’t be liked.
You have to understand that’s how it works.
You can’t control the outcome, you can only control the effort.
You can’t control the positive reviews but you can control the number of chances you take.
You can control the number of times you show up, whether people like you or not.
That’s up to you.
We need to re-condition people to understand failure is the price of success.
The most successful people in your life are successful because they’ve failed the most.
They’ve taken many chances in their life.
Some of them have worked, while most of them haven’t.
The difference is no one cares about the failures when you’ve had some successes.
As Marc Cuban has said, you only need one.
Social media has conditioned us to believe that everyone is always watching us.
They’re not.
They’re too busy paying attention to their own life living in their own mind worrying about how the rest of the world perceives them.
They’re not worried about you.
So take chances.
Do what you really want with the understanding you will fail.
You will screw up.
That’s ok, that’s part of the process.
Know that if you want to be successful, that’s the price.
Fail more and you’ll be more successful.
Remember - you will not hit on everything.
