Dec.17.23 - Day 1906 - What is your identity?

Who are you? What is your identity? What do you attach yourself to? Where do you get your feelings of self worth? Is it your job? Is it your title? Is it how much money you have? Is it how attractive you are? Is it your looks? Is it your intellect? Is it your business? Is it your digital persona? Is it how many followers you have? Is it how well you’re doing in the eyes of others? Whatever it is, you have to learn to let go. Let go of this contract you’ve made with yourself that you will be satisfied by achieving that goal. That idea you had about doing that thing that will make you happy? It doesn’t exist. There is no happiness when. There is only I choose happiness now. There is learning to let go of what your identity is. It will destroy you because you will never live up to that ideal. Seeing it now with friends who have recently transitioned jobs and they’re struggling because their job was their identity. Don’t let your title or work be your whole identity. Find out who you are. Explore other things. Choose to spend time on yourself doing things you love. You have that choice, you just have to be intentional about it. Even then, don’t attach your identity to one thing. You are a complicated person just like everyone else.
