Day 796 – Day 286 Q – Dec.21.20 – Remember why you’re writing and it’s not for recognition

It feels good to be recognized but remember why you’re doing it. You’re doing it to provide value to people who don’t have the knowledge and experiences you have. That’s it. Sure you may get recognition from it and people may point you out as a person w/ knowledge, but at the end of it all, don’t forget about the message. Posted something today on free biotech resources and it got retweeted/liked from some of the top investors and thinkers in the industry. That’s cool shit but the only reason they appreciated it was because of how it provides value to people. Don‘t let anything else get to your head. Also, never be afraid to speak your mind and write about what you want. People will say why don’t you focus on a specific topic area or area of focus to build an audience but why? To gain subscribers so you can sell them stuff? No. It should be for entertainment. To get your thoughts down so one day in the future, you can refer to the work you’ve done and be proud of what you accomplished. That’s it. That’s the reason you’re doing it, is to make your 18-year-old-self proud of the person he’s become. All the fame and recognition and everything else is not important. Sure to other people it might seem like something, but the ultimate goal is to share your knowledge. To share what you’ve done and seen in the world. To tell your story to whoever will listen. Remember, if one person learns something or enjoys what you have to say, you’ve done your job. Now go.
