Money value of time:

Money value of time.

There’s this concept in finance called time value of money.

It states a dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future because that dollar today can be spent and grown into a much larger amount.

Therefore you have to discount the dollar in the future back to today.

Let’s flip that around.

What is your money value of time?

How do you value your time?

How much?

Put a number on it.

A dollar.

10 dollars.

1000 dollars.

How much is your time worth?

Whatever you think it is, increase it.

Time is the most precious asset in the world.

Not money.

Not success.

Not fame.

Not anything else.

Time.

If you’re a young person, you’re likely a time-billionaire.

Let’s break it down.

If you live 80 years on average, that’s 365 days x 80 years = 29,200.

Times 24 hours = 700,800 hours.

Times 60 minutes = 42,048,000 minutes

Times 60 seconds = 2.5ish billion seconds.

So if you’re under 40, you have over a billion seconds left.

Assuming you don’t die young.

For those older than us, they have way less.

Some less than a hundred million seconds.

What those people wouldn’t give up to get more time back.

Ask any old person what they wouldn’t give up to get their time back.

Buffet talked about this.

He would trade all his money in the world for more time.

I’m sure he would give his hundreds of billions of dollars for more time.

More time to learn.

More time to think.

More time to experience this precious thing we call life.

Don’t regret the time your time because those seconds are precious.

Every one of them.

Ideally you want to maximize them being happy.

Being with people you love.

Experiencing new things.

Having fun with those around you.

You don’t want to be miserable for them.

And if you are, figure out why.

No one can take you out of your rut.

You have to decide every day.

Every day you have a choice.

A choice to show up.

A choice to try.

A choice to apply yourself.

Doesn’t mean it’ll be easy, but the effort will be worth it.

Some time is more valuable than others.

Those moments with those you love matter more than those at your keyboard or staring at your phone.

You need to remember - time is precious.

It’s the only thing you can never get back.

Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Appreciate it.

Enjoy it.

Value it.
